Ester van der Veen
Ester van der Veen started baroque bassoon lessons with Wouter Verschuren and entered the Hochschule für Kunste in Bremen shortly after. In the class of Christian Beuse she developed to a historical bassoon player that covers all the repertoire from renaissance on dulcian till the first half of the nineteenth century. She went on to earn a Master of Music from the Universität der Kunste in Berlin for which she recorded the bassoon trios of FHJ Castil-Blaze with the other members of L'Elephant Bleu. She specializes in historical contrabassoon which she plays throughout Europe including at the Bachfest in Leipzig with Solomon's Knot, the Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht with ArtHOUSE17, and with the Copenhagen Soloists. As a freelance historical bassoonist she has also played Handel's Theodora at MusikTheatre an der Wien under Bejun Mehta and Mozart's La Finta Giardinieria at the Kammeroper in Vienna

Enrico Toffano
Enrico Toffano began studying bassoon in 2003 in Padua, Italy and moved to Germany in 2014. There he studied under Prof. Gustavo Núñez in Düsseldorf. Since 2018 he specializes in historical performance, studying in Berlin under Christian Beuse. He appeared as a guest in many international ensembles such as Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Lautten Compagney, Bachakademie Stuttgart, Collegium 1704, Copenhagen Soloists, Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense. As a modern bassoonist he played among others with Lucerne Festival Academy, Gustav Mahler Academy, Berliner Symphoniker and Ensemble Modern Academy; moreover he appeared as a soloist with the ensemble der/gelbe/klang and H. E. Walther’s concerto for four winds and strings in a CD for BR Klassik.

Theresa Koenig
Theresa Koenig began her musical studies at the age of 12, and six years later made her solo debut with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. She spent many years playing the modern bassoon, and what started as dabbling in early music is now her career. Since changing her career focus, Dr. Koenig has performed and toured with ensembles such as: Archipelago Aachen, Capella Augustina, Collegium 1704, Concerto Köln, the English Baroque Soloists, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, and many others. In 2022, Dr. Koenig finished a post-doctorate Master's in early music at the Universität der Kunst Berlin studying with Christian Beuse. In addition to her second masters, Dr. Koenig studied with Kim Walker at Indiana University, with Marc Vallon at UW-Madison, where she received her Doctorate, and with Györgyi Farkas at the Musikhochschule Leipzig.
