As historical bassoon ambassadors, we bring music from the long 19th century to life using the instruments and language of this time, exploring the forgotten gems from the past. We aim in our concerts to express the full range of musical expression, from the profound to the light.

A historical bassoon trio is something that one does not experience every day. Common knowledge paints the bassoon of this period as an inferior and imperfect instrument, only to be tolerated until the modern bassoon was developed. In reality, bassoonists during this period were exceptional and active performers, especially in France, and composers responded by writing countless solo pieces and important parts in chamber music and orchestral pieces. We wish to walk in the footsteps of our bassoon ancestors and bring the wonderful music of the 19th century to our audiences.

Since our founding in 2022, we have recorded the bassoon trios of Francois Castil-Blaze, and performed in France, the Netherlands, Germany (our home country!) and Thailand, and have commissioned the first contemporary piece for our trio by the composer Ben Hoadley.
